FIRM PROFILE

LaFreniere Architects was founded with the intention of providing the full personal attention of the firm's principals and senior staff to selected institutional, corporate and fine residential projects. The firm brings together complimentary skills, experience and sensibilities to provide both design excellence and cost controls, broad conceptual strategies and fine resolution of details.

The principal and senior staff bring the experience of designing and managing large projects for premiere architectural firms, with the care and concern for detail gained from small firm practices. We provide our clients the experienced personal service and management continuity they would expect from a small firm, and the design talent, technical expertise, and production capabilities available at some large offices.

John LaFreniere was a principal with ADD Inc, when he founded LaFreniere Architects in 1990. Since then, projects have ranged from new corporate headquarters buildings to the conversion of a 100,000 SF industrial facility into a first class office building on Route 128; from designing a 3,000 SF offices and boardroom for the Smith Family Foundation, to programming and designing 120,000 SF of new space for Monster.com on two floors of a 600 foot long mill-building. Other projects have included master plans for the redevelopment of industrial sites, new laboratory buildings, housing development studies and residential projects, and laboratories for Harvard Medical School. From 2000 to 2005 the firm was known as LaFreniere/Taketomo architects while Toshihiko Taketomo, AIA was associated with us, prior to his return as principal to Moshe Safdie and Associates.

We work with consulting engineers from a select group of proven firms in each of the major engineering disciplines. The consultant team assembled for each project is the most suitable and cost-effective for the specific project design and schedule constraints. That ninety percent of our work comes from repeat clients and referrals attests to the success of our design approach and the consistent teamwork of our consultants.

We believe that clear communication and articulation of goals and constraints are the key to a productive working relationship, and essential to successful design. Throughout the design and construction process, we carefully monitor the progress of the work in relationship to design, schedule, and budget goals.
